Meet Geffen Black London

Geffen Black London

Geffen Black London, a talented member of Ceramics Classes London, has gained attention for her beautifully stylish and tactile pottery. Through the use of hand-built techniques and her passion for experimentation, Geffen crafts a distinctive body of work that captures the beauty of imperfection and hand-made objects.

Geffen's journey in clay has been shaped by her extensive and successful background in Interior Design. Drawing inspiration from contrasting styles of 3D products, intricately decorated objects, and fabrics from around the world, she brings together diverse influences into her pottery. By manipulating the surface of pots and exploring the mixing of glazing and decorative elements, Geffen creates captivating centrepieces with elegance and character.

For Geffen, the process of creating pottery is one of love, time and patience. She believes that great things take time to evolve and grow, ultimately resulting in pieces that hold everlasting value. Each of Geffen's unique ceramics tells a story, influenced by the narratives and experiences that have shaped her as an artist and maker. Holding one of her pieces takes you to a world of tales and narratives that lie within the clay and the details crafted on the surfaces.

Geffen crafts exclusive pieces that transform a house into a home. With her meticulous attention to detail and dedication she brings bespoke creations to life. Whether it's a centerpiece for a dining table or a decorative item that adds a touch of elegance to a living space, Geffen is always open to discussing ideas for commissions and collaborations.

The upcoming Barnes Fair 2023 is an exciting opportunity to get your hands into Geffen's exceptional craftsmanship. As a participant in this event, she will be showcasing and selling hand-built bowls, spoons, and decorative items. Using white, black, and terracotta clays, Geffen employs a range of techniques, such as Nerikomi, Sgraffito, and Embossing, to create striking and unique pieces. Make sure you don’t miss the event on Saturday 8th of July in Barnes Green. For more information about Barnes Fair, please read our post here.
