Join us for a relaxed, 2 hours open throwing or hand building session where you can explore the art of pottery on the wheel with light supervision.
Daily from 10am to 6pm - last entry is at 4pm
Whether you’re a beginner or looking to practice, you’ll have the freedom to create your pieces at your own pace.
You can choose to keep your work or have it recycled after two weeks. If you decide to keep it, book a separate glazing session or let us apply a transparent glaze for you.
Each session includes a 2kg clay allowance, you can purchase more clay for £3/kg.
Please make sure to write your name (the name under the booking) on a piece of paper and leave it inside your work. So you can recognise it.
*You are expected to have some basic experience before joining, as this is not a taught session.

Pinch, coil, sculpt, join clay and centre clay on the pottery wheel, make a basic cylinder shapes/bowls/mugs.

Join us at our next one day workshop with Louisa Taylor 10.30-5pm. cost is £225.00 inclusive of materials and lunch.
Learn what a glaze is and how to make a glaze: weighing, mixing, creating a glaze profile/identity.
Types of glazes: shiny, matt, maiolica ware, special effect. Firing temperatures (earthenware/mid-temp/stoneware) and types of firing (oxidised and reduction). Basic structures of a glaze - role of flux, silica, and alumina.
Test tiles and glaze ingredients are provided. Tests will be ready to collect by the following week.

You will practice and refine skills on the pottery wheel, work on tapering sides, single, double and multiple curves, bellying and collaring bowls, dishes and plates. You will be encouraged to explore a range of new and exciting challenges while working on your projects or just practising your skills.
