We believe creativity should be hands-on, mindful, and fun. We welcome beginners and experienced artists. Our classes are designed to nurture confidence and spark your imagination, whether you’re learning how to throw on the wheel or experiment with hand-building/decorating techniques.
Led by passionate ceramics artists, every session is relaxed, friendly, and tailored to support your individual journey.
We teach one day courses, taster sessions, 4/8 week courses, team-building/ corporate events and children’s parties.
our goal is to help you slow down, connect with clay, and create something meaningful to take home.

CCL was founded by Zoe Lloyd a graduate from the Royal College of Art and Institute of Education.
The Arch is Located on Cambridge Grove in Hammersmith, West London. The Barn on Barnes High Street, South West London.

Glaze workshop
28th of September from 10:30am to 5pm
One day workshop with Louisa Taylor 10.30-5pm.
Learn to design your glaze:
How to make a glaze: weighing, mixing, creating a glaze profile/identity.
Test tiles and glaze ingredients are provided. Tests will be ready to collect by the following week.
Lunch and refreshments are provided.

Porcelain Masterclass
A 3 day course 11th, 12th, 13th November. Working only with porcelain clay. For potters with existing skills in making wheel-thrown ceramics but not expected that your skills are perfect.
Jo will use wheel-throwing demonstrations of core, simple shapes as well as some more challenging shapes. Includes 6KG porcelain additional clay cost is £5 kilo. Firing is included.

Halloween One Week Course
Great fun for kids and adults. During the one week course you can work on spooky projects over five consecutive days from 2pm-5pm Mon-Fri. Projects include hand building on Monday: pumpkins, ghosts, cauldrons and more. Learn how to centre clay & throw cylinder shapes on the pottery wheel on Tuesday & Wednesday. Refine thrown forms and continue to develop hand built and decorate with coloured slips on Friday. The glazing 2 weeks afterwards TBA.

Whether you’re a beginner exploring a new creative outlet or an experienced potter looking to refine your skills, our studio will cater to all levels. This is a great opportunity to work on personal projects while surrounded by other fellow artists.

PotteryTaster sessions, 4 or 8 weeks courses in throwing and hand building techniques.
Taster sessions are 1.5 hours long in this session you will be introduced to ceramic techniques. This is a one on one or group session for beginners. You will learn how to throw a pot on the pottery wheel or how to hand build with clay to make a small coil pot cup or sculptural form making one or two items which will be fired and glazed with a clear shiny glaze and ready to collect three weeks later.
Our 4 or 8 weeks courses are 3 hours long and are a great introduction to learning how to work with clay. Beginning with centring the clay and throwing a series of cylinder shapes on the pottery wheel. Continue to develop practicing your throwing techniques and refine your shapes using turning tools. In the final session you will learn how to apply a glaze to a selection of your work. Cost is Inclusive of all materials and firings.
1 Week Pottery Course
During the one week course you can work on self directed projects over five consecutive days Monday-Friday. Projects include hand building on Monday: coiling/slab-built forms to make a series of pots, plates and sculptural forms in clay. Learn how to centre clay & throw cylinder shapes on the pottery wheel on Tuesday & Wednesday. Refine thrown forms Thursday and decorate with coloured slips on Friday. An additional glazing session is 2 weeks afterwards TBA.

What is a glaze? How to make a glaze: weighing, mixing, creating a glaze profile/identity.
Types of glazes: shiny, matt, maiolica ware, special effect. Firing temperatures (earthenware/mid-temp/stoneware) and types of firing (oxidised and reduction). Basic structure of a glaze - role of flux, silica, and alumina.
Test tiles and glaze ingredients are provided. Tests will be ready to collect by the following week.
