Develop your own self-directed clay projects with expert guidance.

Monday: Begin with hand-building techniques – explore coiling and slab-building to create pots, plates, and sculptural clay forms.

Tuesday & Wednesday: Move on to the pottery wheel – learn to centre clay and throw classic cylinder shapes.

Thursday: Continue refining your thrown pieces and expanding your hand-built work.

Friday: Bring your creations to life with decoration, using coloured slips and surface design techniques.

Whether you’re new to ceramics or looking to deepen your skills, this intensive week offers the perfect opportunity to create, experiment, and grow in a supportive studio environment

Over six weeks, young makers will explore a range of pottery techniques, including hand-building (coiling, slab work, and sculpture) and throwing on the pottery wheel. They’ll also learn how to decorate their creations using colourful clay slips.

From animal sculptures to plates, bowls, jugs, and vases, this course encourages imagination, hands-on learning, and confidence in making.

Join renowned ceramic artist Catrin Howell exploring the expressive possibilities of clay through hand building, throwing, and sculptural techniques. Catrin Howell’s ceramics draw on the rich symbolism of animals in mythology, exploring how these figures help tell both ancient & contemporary stories through clay.

• Pinching, coiling, and slab building, pressing clay into plaster moulds to form unique shapes and textures

• Throwing on the wheel

• glaze and finish a selection of your best work. Projects are self-directed, allowing you to create plates, vessels, or sculptural pieces that reflect your own artistic voice.

Enjoy a day of creativity, discovery, and technical insight — with lunch and refreshments included. Ceramic artist & author Louisa Taylor offers her next one-day immersive glaze workshop, perfect for potters looking to deepen their understanding of ceramic surface and colour.

• What a glaze is and how it works, How to weigh, mix, and create your own glaze profiles. The science behind different finishes — shiny, matt, maiolica, and special effects. The impact of firing temperatures (earthenware, mid-range, stoneware) and atmospheres (oxidised and reduction)

• The basic structure of a glaze — understanding the roles of flux, silica, and alumina

All test tiles and glaze materials are provided, and your results will be ready for collection the following week.

Flow & Throw: Pottery & Yoga Workshop

A grounding wellness experience - move, make, & connect.

Join us for Flow and Throw, a 3.5-hour immersive workshop blending yin yoga, divination, & pottery. Move, breathe, and create as you reconnect with your body and spirit through mindful motion and hands-on art.

Experience a yin yoga flow, guided pottery practice, and reflective moments with oracle cards and refreshments. This is your space to slow down, play, and rediscover your creative magic.
